Elevating Clean Water Access Program
The opening of access to clean water is Kalbe's featured program in IDX Channel's ESG Award. Kalbe's clean water access program originated from the concern of the difficulty of residents in Baturetno Subdistrict, Wonogiri Regency, Central Java in meeting their daily water needs. This is exacerbated by the dry and rocky geology of Baturetno Sub-district.
Kalbe Corporate Sustainability Assistant Manager, SFD Arie Wibowo recalls the initial moment when Kalbe initiated the clean water access program.
“(At that time) residents had to travel tens of kilometers just for clean water. Then, there was a religious figure who asked if access to clean water could be assisted to fulfill the worship needs of the local musala,” Arie said.
Arie added that Kalbe's clean water access program has succeeded in supplying hundreds of households in Baturetno Sub-district.
“Initially, we conducted drilling in Watuangung Village, from only reaching five families, it has now reached 85 families. The program is also extended to Boto Village, approximately 200 families have been reached by Kalbe's clean water. They have also formed an association to manage clean water independently,” Arie concluded.
The journey of opening access to water in the Regency, which has supplied hundreds of households in Wonogiri Regency, shows Kalbe's passion in making the community healthy, in accordance with its sustainability commitment, Together Make the Nation Healthy.
