KJSA 2024 Fosters Interest in Innovation from an Early Age

Jakarta (28 May 2024) - PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) is once again holding a science innovation award event for young researchers, titled Kalbe Junior Scientist Award (KJSA) 2024. In this KJSA 2024 activity, Kalbe collaborates with Prestasi Junior Indonesia (PJI) in organising the activity.

The KJSA 2024 activity was attended by 137 teams from 93 elementary schools throughout Indonesia. Each team competes to show their best innovation in the field of Health, which ultimately aims to improve the quality of life of the people around them.

From the ideas collected, 10 ideas were selected as finalists. Each was presented to the jury online on Tuesday 28 May 2024. The ten finalists and their innovations include: SDN 04 Lebak Bulus, Jakarta (Tech Smart Lunch Box); SDS Telkom Batam (Respi Monitor); SDIT Bina Amal Semarang (PosFix Smart Correction for Sitting Position); SD Muhammadiyah Manyar Gresik (Panic Button); SDK Tritunggal Semarang (MaCSense); MI Al Huda Pengastulan, Buleleng (DG-CO); SD Global Islamic School 2 Serpong (Healthy Digital Plate); SD Islam Alam & Sains Al-Jannah, Depok (Mola Bot); SDIT Attaqwa Surabaya (Tumbler X-DiNO) and SDN Ngadirgo 03 Semarang (Inomami).

Various awards were also presented to the participants. Each awardee received appreciation in the form of coaching money, trophies, medals and certificates. The first winner was SD Ngadirgo 03 Semarang, the second winner was SD Muhammadiyah Manyar Gresik, and the third winner was SDIT Bina Amal Semarang. Meanwhile, the most creative idea award went to SDIT Attaqwa Suarabaya and the public choice award went to SD Global Islamic School 2 Serpong.

 

Fostering Innovation, Gaining Appreciation

During the final presentation and awarding of KJSA 2024, a number of invited guests were present, representing Kalbe, PJI, and Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). The presence of KJSA received good appreciation from Kemendikbudristek through the Directorate of Elementary School, Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education and Secondary Education. 

‘We appreciate the efforts of Kalbe and Prestasi Junior Indonesia to jointly realise the ideals of independent learning, especially to increase motivation and creativity through the KJSA event,’ said Kurniawan, Associate Expert Policy Analyst at the Directorate of Elementary School, Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education and Secondary Education, Kemendikbudristek in his speech. 

 

Meanwhile, Robert Gardiner, Academic Advisor and Operations Counsel Prestasi Junior Indonesia welcomed the implementation of the KJSA 2024 programme. Robert also said that the work produced by KJSA 2024 participants was very unique and innovative.

‘There are so many interesting projects from the KJSA 2024 participants. I think it is very difficult to choose the best one,’ Robert praised.

On the same occasion, Robert Gardiner also emphasised the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in producing a superior next generation. ‘STEM is very important for the future of Indonesia,’ said Robert. 

Kalbe Corporate Sustainability Assistant Manager SFD Arie Wibowo said that the KJSA programme is implemented in line with Kalbe's mission to improve the quality of life of the community. 

‘As a health company that has a mission to improve health for a better life, Kalbe continues to present innovations, especially in the field of health that aim to improve the quality of life of the community. KJSA activities have been implemented since 2011, and have received recognition from various national figures,’ Arie explained.

On the same occasion, Arie also encouraged the competing finalists. 

‘For those who win, don't be big-hearted. Stay like the rice that gets bigger the more it bends down. For those who haven't won, have faith and stay proud. You have become a champion for yourself, your family and your school,’ said Arie. 

The KJSA 2024 activity is a form of Kalbe's commitment to sustainability, with the aim of fostering interest in science from an early age in the community. As stated by Abi Nisaka, Kalbe Corporate Sustainability Senior Manager. 

‘Kalbe continues to show its commitment, in line with our sustainability commitment: Together, Building A Healthy Nation. One of the implementations is the KJSA programme. Kalbe continues to show noble intentions to improve the quality of life, through the innovations provided. Not only innovation through products, Kalbe also fosters innovation in the community, especially from an early age,’ Abi concluded.
