Pandeglang, Banten (February 9, 2026) – Diabetes is considered by the public to be the “mother of all diseases.” Diabetes is present without symptoms in every aspect of people's lives, yet it has an impact that also changes the lives of families.

Data from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Diabetes Atlas, updated in 2023, shows that the number of people with diabetes in Indonesia has reached around 19.5 million adults aged 20–79 years. Worse still, the trend of diabetes in Indonesia continues to increase until around 2045. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ministry of Health, in the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), also shows that diabetes and its risk factors remain a major health problem. Both data reflect the large population living with this condition or in the pre-diabetes phase.

Responding to this urgency, PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) supports efforts to increase public health awareness through its support for community service programs in collaboration with the Pandeglang Regency Government, Muhammadiyah University Jakarta (UMJ), and Mercu Buana University (UMB).

As part of this community service program, Kalbe, together with the Pandeglang Regency Government and UMJ, provided education to 130 health cadres on the dangers and prevention of diabetes. The educational activity was held in Kertasana Village, Pandeglang Regency, Banten, on Saturday, February 7, 2026. A number of officials and stakeholders attended the event, including Pandeglang Regent Raden Dewi Setiani, Central Maluku Regent Zulkarnain Awat Amir, and East Lombok Regent Haerul Warisin.

“The prevention and control of diabetes is the responsibility of all parties. Through this educational event held by Kalbe in collaboration with the Pandeglang Regency Government and UMJ, we are demonstrating close collaboration to raise public awareness of the dangers of diabetes,” explained SFD Arie Wibowo, Kalbe Corporate Sustainability Assistant Manager.

Furthermore, Kalbe also introduced the Diabetes Total Solution (DTS) ecosystem, an integrated ecosystem consisting of diabetes prevention, detection, and treatment as a form of contribution to raising public awareness.

“Kalbe also introduced DTS in this program as a form of Kalbe's strong commitment to supporting a healthy community through diabetes prevention and treatment,” added Arie.

Meanwhile, Abi Nisaka, Head of Corporate Sustainability at Kalbe, emphasized Kalbe's commitment to supporting the improvement of the community's quality of life by raising awareness of the dangers of diabetes.

"Kalbe's DTS ecosystem demonstrates Kalbe's seriousness in improving the quality of life of the community. Through education and collaboration with various segments of the community, we hope to expand access to healthcare in line with our commitment to sustainability, Together for a Healthy Nation," said Abi.

Demonstrating Collaboration with Stakeholders

The collaboration between Kalbe, the Pandeglang Regency Government, UMJ, and UMB in raising public awareness of the dangers of diabetes was evident in the activities that took place in Pandeglang.

Pandeglang Regent Raden Dewi Setiani appreciated this positive step and said that the collaboration in the diabetes education program is a practice that can be expanded to various regions, especially in Pandeglang Regency.

"On behalf of the Pandeglang Regency Government, we express our appreciation and gratitude to Kalbe, UMJ, and UMB for the health education activities that took place in Kertasana Village.

“As academics, we need to dedicate our knowledge for the benefit of the wider community. Mercu Buana University, together with Kalbe, is contributing through the creation of diabetes education content that can be understood by various segments of society,” explained Novena Ulita, S.Pd., M.Sn., UMB Lecturer.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Andriansyah, M.Si., Head of the UMJ Doctoral Program in Public Administration, emphasized the importance of community service collaboration with various stakeholders as an academic contribution to supporting a healthy community.

"We express our appreciation to Kalbe for the collaboration that took place in the Tri Dharma activities in Pandeglang. I hope that this support for health will also open the eyes of academics and practitioners, especially in the field of public administration, so that they can see how collaboration and synergy are essential in formulating policies that are fair to all parties," said Andriansyah.

In addition to providing diabetes education, Kalbe, together with the Pandeglang Regency Government, UMJ, and UMB, distributed tree seedlings and provided assistance to underprivileged communities.
